Lessons Learned

I am grateful for 2010--what an interesting year in my life. Here are a few of the lessons I picked up along the way:

1. The only true gifts are those of the heart

2. Light will always find light (If I am who I associate with, how blessed I am)

3. God doesn't necessarily answer our prayers the way we want, but always the way we need

4. "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold." Proverbs 22:1

5. Something doesn't come from nothing. If we want God to work with us, we have to put water in the well--even if it is only a drop

6. It takes longer to go around something, than right through it

7. Being right doesn't matter as much as being kind

8. If you are screwed too tight, you'll probably strip your threads

9. Right attitudes produce right actions

10. We are with God...he isn't with us.

11. We are infinitely creative when something suits us and impressively unoriginal when it does not

12. I don't have to know it all: "And now, I do not know all things; but the Lord knoweth all things which are to come; wherefore, he worketh in me to do according to his will." W of Mormon 1:7

13. If you want to know how you sound, listen to your 3 year old talk. (one word: SPONGE!)

14. We despise in others what we loathe in ourselves

15. The early bird catches the worm--the wise bird shares it with others.

16. The further I get from home, the more I appreciate it, and understand it. There's no place like home.

Those are all really good lessons...one I've had to learn is to be patient and take time to enjoy the small things.

loved your list. we always learn through experience, wether easy or hard...

you should hear what you say through a 6 year old, with her hand on her hip, giving her brother what for! :)

i am thankful for being able to read your journey. please know that you are a special person. you have helped me to see trials in a little different light this year. all of us have such power to lift each other up when we choose to do so--and you have really inspired me.

I hear you on 13 and 14! And sometimes I'd still rather go around than through!

Hi!

I would like to talk to you about an article I wrote that, being a parent, I think you would enjoy (on early childhood education). I'd love it if you could drop me an email quick so I can give you more details if you're interested or if you were interested in new content for your blog.
