Grassiphobia
Colton is so funny when it comes to grass. He always raises his left foot like this and will raise it again if you push it down. We're slowly working on this fear. . .

Anniversary/Mother's Day Getaway
Blaine took the three of us away to Northern Washington for a three-day getaway in honor of our anniversary and Mother's Day. The area we visited was gorgeous and we had a relaxing vacation away from everything. This is the lookout below the place we stayed at.

From My Arms To Yours
She was the last of the generation of real grandmothers. One of the women who made a special grace of age.-Helen Hayes
This is my Grandma Furness and after bragging about my Mom I needed to share this lady with you too--she is amazing and her life has been one of selflessness and service. I cannot recall a single childhood event Grandma Furness wasn't witness to. She has been there for all of my triumphs and disappointments encouraging me and supporting me as only a grandma can. There is no place like home--except maybe grandma's.
Happy Mother's Day
We are together, my child and I, Mother and child, yes, but sisters really, against whatever denies us all that we are.-Alice Walker
Ten Favorite Memories of My Mom:
10-I loved to watch Mom put her makeup on. Something about that time was special.
9-When Mom would get tired on the long drive from town out to home, she would have me play with her hair to keep her awake. I loved my hands running through her hair.
8-I will never forget my mother's hands when we sat at church. As a child, I remember thinking how soft and beautiful they were with her sparkling wedding ring on.
7-For fun, Mom pulled out our tent once, and we set it up in the front yard and had a camp-out together. . .just her and me.
6-Mom always sang in the car and came up with fun games to pass the time. As I got older, they transformed into long conversations about everything and anything-some of our most special communications. (You are my Sunshine, There was a Little Girl, Alphabet Race, I'm Going on a Trip. . .So Many MORE)
5-To keep us quiet at church, Mom would draw little pictures for us on the bulletin and I remember she could draw my doll Jenny exactly. I loved it and recall thinking just how amazing my Mom was to be able to do that!
4-I was frequently sick as a child due to a condition I had, and Mom would let me lay in the bathroom with her big, soft pink blanket and bring me soda and crackers and talk to me. Nobody comforts us like our Mom--it isn't fair that I have my Mom and she doesn't have hers this week!
3-Picnics in the park after swimming lessons. Mom would often pack a fun lunch or we'd go to the deli and pick up chicken and macaroni or potato salad. We'd sit on the blanket and then we'd always play on the playground or roll down the steep grass hill.
2-Maybe I didn't love it in the moment, but I will always love and appreciate now Mom telling me to slow down and count the piano pieces I was working on. Thank you Mom for allowing me to develop my talent despite the cost on your wallets and your ears every morning at 6 a.m.
1-and most of all-watching my Mother hold my child for the first time.
I LOVE YOU MOM--HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to you and all of the other Mother's out there. Feel free to share your ten favorite memories about your Mom on your blog!

I Don't 'Carrot' All
Colton has been getting his top front two teeth and it has been a ROUGH week of inconsolable crying. Not fun! I finally got to the point where I'd do anything to comfort Colton, and Grandma suggested letting him chomp on a carrot. He loved it and it helped so much--thank heavens for smart grandmas who have been around the block a time or two! When One Door Closes, Another Opens
Colton loves to open and close doors--luckily he has only got his fingers caught once and very little at that. He is investigating everything now that he is mobile--and I can hardly keep up the baby-proofing before he's found something new to destroy! That's okay, though we love watching his delight at every new venture.
