Happy Mother's Day

We are together, my child and I, Mother and child, yes, but sisters really, against whatever denies us all that we are.
-Alice Walker

Ten Favorite Memories of My Mom:
10-I loved to watch Mom put her makeup on. Something about that time was special.
9-When Mom would get tired on the long drive from town out to home, she would have me play with her hair to keep her awake. I loved my hands running through her hair.
8-I will never forget my mother's hands when we sat at church. As a child, I remember thinking how soft and beautiful they were with her sparkling wedding ring on.
7-For fun, Mom pulled out our tent once, and we set it up in the front yard and had a camp-out together. . .just her and me.
6-Mom always sang in the car and came up with fun games to pass the time. As I got older, they transformed into long conversations about everything and anything-some of our most special communications. (You are my Sunshine, There was a Little Girl, Alphabet Race, I'm Going on a Trip. . .So Many MORE)
5-To keep us quiet at church, Mom would draw little pictures for us on the bulletin and I remember she could draw my doll Jenny exactly. I loved it and recall thinking just how amazing my Mom was to be able to do that!
4-I was frequently sick as a child due to a condition I had, and Mom would let me lay in the bathroom with her big, soft pink blanket and bring me soda and crackers and talk to me. Nobody comforts us like our Mom--it isn't fair that I have my Mom and she doesn't have hers this week!
3-Picnics in the park after swimming lessons. Mom would often pack a fun lunch or we'd go to the deli and pick up chicken and macaroni or potato salad. We'd sit on the blanket and then we'd always play on the playground or roll down the steep grass hill.
2-Maybe I didn't love it in the moment, but I will always love and appreciate now Mom telling me to slow down and count the piano pieces I was working on. Thank you Mom for allowing me to develop my talent despite the cost on your wallets and your ears every morning at 6 a.m.
1-and most of all-watching my Mother hold my child for the first time.

I LOVE YOU MOM--HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to you and all of the other Mother's out there. Feel free to share your ten favorite memories about your Mom on your blog!

First off, how pretty are the two of you? Hello. This is a great top 10 reasons to love a mother. I love the detail and thought that you savored in your memories. She sounded very attentive and in tune to your needs. You are richly blessed and I can see some of the same traits she handed to you. Thanks for sharing this lovely tribute.
