"I don't think you understand what kind of day I've had."
This is what I told my sweet husband when I picked him up from class yesterday and he mistakenly asked how my morning had been. Now I fully recognize that for most of you FIVE star Moms out there (namely, my Mom and Mother-in-law) this is another walk in the park, but this being my first 'official' induction into the annals of blessed motherhood, I hope you'll afford me this one.
Yesterday morning started at 5 a.m. with Colton puking over every visible substance within a five foot radius, followed by five subsequent hours of the same, followed by and continuing today with the worst diarrhea I've seen thus far from him.
After my initial three laundry loads washed in an attempt to reconstruct what was his bedding, he followed it up with an EXPLODED diaper that went all over the jammies, the rug, the floor, the cupboards, the shower, the towel, and ME. Yay!
So after FIVE laundry loads, TWENTY plus diaper changes, a disinfected bathroom and FOUR outfit changes (one for myself) we are back to normal (sort of) today.
Honestly, I was laughing most of the time thinking about how I've finally got my come-upons on this one and I share this not only to make our folks laugh in recalling their days of glory in the sick kids department but to offer up a heartfelt THANK YOU for their love and care. I remembered as I rocked Colt yesterday morning that no one comforts us like Mom and that this is what it is all about--this might be one of the first, but definitely not the last episodes like this so bring on the laundry, the diapers, the dishes and more. Thanks Mom and Dad--we don't know how you did it!

Isn't it fun? :o)
Hope everyone is feeling much better.
Oh, no! I hope he's feeling better! This didn't help my "focus on the positive" strategy...
P.S. Related to the necessity of jewelry conversation. I say it is absolutely necessary! Not frequently, but for big occasions it sure is fun!
ha ha awesome! I am SOO not excited for when i get to experience that same thing! Just think you'll have several more kids and they'll all have the same experiences...multiple times!! IM SO EXCITED!
Glad it's over for me.
Oh - what a bummer. I guess you can be glad that you didn't have the screamers too, right?
ok. i seriously think that would make me so queasy and ill, BUT when i got to the part where you talked about rocking him and thinking about how sometimes only a mom can make things feel a little better it made me so excited to be a mom, rocking my baby when he/she isn't having a very fun day.
I love your comment under the picture! Sounds like it was a horrible day! You sound like a five star mom to me. If you guys do come back out this way, you will have to visit. The school Cam got into is in Hillsboro. It is pretty close to Portland. Not sure where we will live yet! I wish we could come visit you guys! I'm really tired of the cold! Hope all is going well for you guys!
I am sooooo sorry for you, Hillary!! I have to tell you that I don't miss those days. I am glad to hear that all of you are feeling better. It's amazing how you kind of forget those frustrated feelings down the road after events like this happen in our lives. I remember all of my siblings being home several years ago talking about the "old days". We were laughing our heads off and all my mother could do was say, "I don't remember that." She said that one has a tendency to push the bad memories to the back and only recall the wonderful times with your children. Hopefully, this is one you can push back!!
